SAT and PSAT Information

***IMPORTANT ***APRIL 10 TESTING ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND PARENTS/GUARDIANS.
 
SAT announcement for Juniors and their Parents/Guardians.
April 10 is the statewide testing day for the SAT.  Please review the following informational items.  
  • There will be a pretest administration session on April 5 in the cafeteria.  This session is absolutely necessary and it is imperative that all juniors attend.
  • The SAT is a graduation requirement in Illinois.  Juniors are required to be at school on April 10.
  • Juniors will take the SAT at Lincoln School.
  • Students are to arrive between 7:20 and 7:40.
  • Students are permitted to drive to Lincoln School.  Car pooling is recommended as parking is limited.  A shuttle bus from the High School will be available.  Students will board this bus in front of the gym.
  • Bring at least two #2 pencils and a calculator.  A list of approved calculators and the SAT calculator policy can be found at  https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/taking-the-test/calculator-policy
  • Snacks will be provided. 
  • Phones are NOT permitted in the testing rooms.
  • Dixon High School students DO NOT NEED an ID.  
  • Testing will end at approximately 1 pm.  Juniors are dismissed for the remainder of the day.
 
PSAT announcement for Freshman, Sophomores, and their Parents/Guardians. 
 
On April 10 Freshman will be taking the PSAT 8/9, Sophomores will be taking the PSAT 10 at Dixon High School.

  • There will be a pretest administration session on April 5 in student specific testing rooms.  All Freshman and Sophomores are required to attend.
  • Students are to be in attendance the entire day.
  • Students are to be in their testing rooms at 7:45.
  • Testing will last approximately 3 hours.
  • The PSAT 8/9 will take place on 3rd and 4th floors.  Students will be informed of exceptions. 
  • The PSAT 10 will take place on the 2nd floor.  Students will be informed of exceptions.
  •  Bring at least two #2 pencils and a calculator.  A list of approved calculators and the SAT calculator policy can be found at  https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/taking-the-test/calculator-policy
  • Phones are NOT permitted in the testing rooms.
  • The data derived from testing will be utilized for academic interventions.
  • Lunch will occur after testing.  After lunch there are scheduled activities for students.   
 
Announcements for all Seniors and Senior students who attend Whiteside Area Career Center (WACC)
 
On April 10 all Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors will take part in PSAT and SAT testing.  
  • Seniors who are taking WACC classes are required to be in attendance on April 10. You are expected to meet the bus in the cafeteria parking lot at 9:25 am.   Students are not permitted to drive personal vehicles to WACC. 
  • There will be no classes for Seniors at Dixon High School on April 10.  
  • Seniors will be released approximately 45 minutes early on April 5 during the SAT and PSAT pretest administration sessions.
