Stuff to Know

Spring Break – No Student Attendance March 30-April 6.  School resumes Tuesday, April 7.

Congratulations Aidan Brown, Dixon High School’s Student of the Month for March! 🎉

ACT/Pre-ACT Testing – On April 14 we will be taking the ACT and pre-ACT at Dixon High School.  Freshmen and sophomore students will be taking the pre-ACT and junior students will be taking the ACT.  These test results affect our students individually, as well as our school as a whole.  We expect all students to prepare and give their best effort these assessments.  Most students will be finished by lunchtime on this day and will be allowed to leave when all testing is completed.  Lunch will still be available for those who stay, and busing will run at normal times that afternoon.  On this day, senior students will not be in attendance at Dixon High School. Students will not attend Whiteside Area Career Center on this day.

Matilda Update - The show will now be April 17, 18, and 19, 2026 with 7pm start times Friday and Saturday and Sunday at 2pm. If you have purchased tickets for the March show, please fill out this form to receive a refund or exchange.

SVCC Jump Start - We’re excited to share that Jump Start registration for Sauk Valley Community College opens March 9! Jump Start is our guided registration opportunity for high school seniors who plan to attend Sauk beginning Summer or Fall 2026. This event gives new students the chance to register for classes early and get set up for a smooth transition to college.  Jump Start 2026 Dates: April 10, 17, 24 — Sessions run 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (last appointment begins at 1:00 PM) & April 14 — Sessions run 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM (last appointment begins at 5:00 PM).  Sign up for Jump Start at www.svcc.edu/jumpstart. SVCC Dual Credit Information Night - SVCC will be hosting a Dual Credit Informational Night coming up on Tuesday, April 7th from 5:30-6:30 pm. This informational night is designed for students and parents who are interested in learning more about our various dual credit opportunities. We have both in person and Zoom options available. 4-H Teens as Teachers – Be a role model for young kids while teaching what you love, receive practical training that you can use in college, your career and throughout life.  The first meeting is April 7, 3:30-4:30p in the Dixon Ag Room.  Join through IMPACT and work towards your hours.  Total commitment is 6 hours of training plus teaching opportunities.  RSVP and/or direct questions to Kathy at kbook@illinois.edu.

🎓 Athletic College Signing Day Announcement – May 6, 2026 🎓- Join us as we celebrate an exciting milestone for our student-athletes on Athletic College Signing Day, happening Wednesday, May 6, 2026! This special event recognizes the hard work, dedication, and achievements of our athletes as they take the next step in both their academic and athletic journeys.

📅 Date: Wednesday, May 6, 2026
📍Location: Lancaster Gym (After Award Ceremony)
Time: 7pm

Important Details for Participants: Sign up in the Athletic Office to reserve your spot. Each student-athlete who signs up will be provided with a table & chairs for their parents/siblings.  Participants are responsible for decorating their table the night of the event—get creative and represent your future college!  Student athletes are encouraged to wear apparel representing their future school. Family, friends, and staff are all invited to attend and celebrate as these athletes officially sign their commitment.  🎉 We can’t wait to celebrate with you!

2026 Rotary Youth Leadership Camp (RYLA) – This year’s RYLA Camp will be held at the Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center in Oregon, IL from May 8-10, 2026.  The program will engage students in valuable lessons about teamwork, self-reflection, communication, decision-making, and other social skills that are essential for becoming productive, responsible leaders.  Deadline for applying is April 15th.  See Guidance Office for more information.
