Our Functional Communication Program ran their first “Coffee, Confections & Connections” Cart Friday, and it was a huge hit! Our Coffee Cart was created to allow students within the Functional Communication program the opportunity to create connections with staff throughout the building while practicing their social and communicative skills. Through this structured task-based program, students demonstrated their abilities to communicate, complete cart orders, and practice basic social skills while bringing joy to our entire staff. We are so grateful for our generous donors that made our 1st coffee cart possible! BIG SHOUTOUT to our Dixon community McDonalds, Starbucks, Jimmy John’s, Culver’s, Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Oliver’s Corner Market for donating the food, drinks and supplies that were necessary to make this program a success! We cannot wait to watch our students’ skills continue to grow and generalize across multiple school settings each month with our Coffee, Confections & Connections Cart!
